Our Story

Smile SWFL began with a rescue. When Hurricane Helene struck, I rushed to help my 85-year-old friend as floodwaters filled her home. She stayed safely with my family for a week, but when it came time to move forward, her only options were heartbreaking: a crowded shelter, followed by a facility where she had to share a 10x10 room with a stranger, pay nearly $3,000 a month, and give up the freedom to make her own choices.

That experience opened my eyes to the housing crisis facing seniors. Too many older adults are left with no good choices: homes too large to manage alone, long waitlists for facilities, or costly placements that strip away independence. I knew there had to be a better way.
